Day 7 of Seattle Seahawks 2019 training camp is in the books, and it was a decidedly different practice with Russell Wilson absent. Wilson attended the funeral of his grandfather Harrison Wilson Jr, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 94. It’s just the second time in Wilson’s career that he’s missed a training camp session, with the previous instance in 2016, when he attended the funeral of Jimmy Graham’s surrogate mother in 2016.
As for what happened on the field on Friday, Geno Smith and Paxton Lynch took turns running the offense. I am quite humored by Tyler Lockett’s double move that forced CB Jamal Taylor to commit an extremely obvious holding penalty. Jamar doesn’t really cover himself in glory on a Rashaad Penny run, either. New signing Nyquan Murray made a hell of a leaping catch over Ugo Amadi for a touchdown. Gary Jennings Jr also had an impressive TD grab over Simeon Thomas in the back of the end zone.
Here’s a brief round-up of what happened on Day 7:
The Seahawks are playing a mock game on Saturday at Pop Keeney Stadium in Bothell. There will not be a live stream of that event, so if you make it out there, good for you! Otherwise, you’ll probably have to wait for highlights to spring up some other time. As a result, there will be no open thread for Saturday, but will resume on Monday.
Here’s the rest of the Seahawks’ training camp schedule:
Saturday, August 3rd (in Bothell)
Monday, August 5th
Tuesday, August 6th
Monday, August 12th
Thursday, August 15th (open to Season Ticket Holders only)
