One half of football that doesn’t count remains
We’re at halftime at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, and the Minnesota Vikings lead the Buffalo Bills by a score of 10-3.
The Vikings got the football first, and got a nice 17-yard run by Mike Boone and a 14-yard pass from Kyle Sloter to Laquon Treadwell to move into Buffalo territory, but the drive stalled out. Matt Wile came on for the first punt of the evening, dropping it at the Bills’ 8-yard line. The Vikings’ defense got a three-and-out to start the game, and a bad punt from the Bills gave the purple a start in Buffalo territory for their second drive.
Minnesota had a 23-yard touchdown pass from Sloter to Brandon Dillon taken off the board by a holding penalty on Storm Norton, but the Vikings got into the end zone anyway, courtesy of a 15-yard pass from Sloter to Ameer Abdullah! Kaare Vedvik handled the first extra point of the evening, and he split the uprights to give the Vikings a 7-0 lead.

Former Vikings’ camp kicker Steven Hauschka connected on a 54-yard field goal on Buffalo’s next drive, and the first quarter ended with the purple leading by a score of 7-3.
On their next drive, the Vikings got deep into Buffalo territory once again, but had to settle for a field goal attempt from Vedvik. His 37-yard attempt was wide right. . .way wide right.
After the Vikings’ defense forced their second three-and-out, Sloter threw his first ever NFL interception, as he was picked off by Lafayette Pitts near midfield. The Bills went three-and-out again, however, and the Vikings pushed down the field again. Once again their drive stalled, and the Vikings brought on Vedvik for another field goal attempt, this one another 27 yarder.
And he made it. HE MADE IT, Y’ALL!
That gave the Vikings a 10-3 lead, and that’s how we go into the locker room at halftime.
Sloter had a solid first half of football, completing 15-of-22 attempts for 157 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. Mike Boone’s night appears to be over, as he carried the ball six times for 19 yards before giving way to De’Angelo Henderson.
The Vikings’ defense has been solid as well, limiting the Bills to just 105 total yards, and 45 yards passing. They have not yet sacked rookie quarterback Tyree Jackson, but the Bills haven’t done a whole lot to move the ball outside of one drive.
We have just one half of action remaining in the preseason, folks, and the Vikings lead the Bills in Buffalo by a score of 10-3. Come join us for the last half of preseason action in 2019!
