Quarterback striving to be ready for week one
As week two of training camp begins, we are getting to the point where you want to see the players, especially the quarterback, start to get a better grasp of the new scheme the team will be running.
There is no question that Jameis Winston has had his ups and downs through the first week of practice, but again, with a new system, that is expected.
As camp rolls on, you want to be able to see Winston string together multiple lights out practices in a row, but according to Bruce Arians, Friday night was Winston’s best performance yet.
“I would say [so] just because the red zone was just lights-out. Seven-on-seven was lights-out. I thought the team period was lights-out,” Bruce Arians said. “The two-minute, he overcame some things [and] got us down there with a chance to throw it in. So, yeah, I would say yes,” Arians said.
Progress. It’s all about progress this time of the year. Again, it’s important to string together multiple good practices as that will result in the overall confidence of Winston to be much higher heading into week one.
Arians, also commented on how Winston has been learning over the past week, but more importantly since the day Arians was hired and the growth that he has seen.
“Oh, yeah. He’s got good growth every day. We’re talking, we’re learning, situations, this play versus that coverage, here’s the best [play.] That’s all it is. He works really, really hard, studies good. He’ll be fine,” Arians said.
We’ve all heard that it’s a make or break season for Winston and his career, but Buccaneer fans should have a lot of confidence that come week one, this team will be ready to go, including Winston.
