Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears: Thursday Night Football/2019 Season Kick-Off Game Live Thread & Game Information

Every NFL season now kicks off with a Thursday night game that is usually surrounded by a bunch of foolishness and features the previous seasons champion as one of the two teams playing. This year, as it’s the NFL’s 100th anniversary the NFL instead chose to showcase the leagues oldest rivalry.

The Bears come into 2019 having won their division last season with a 12 and 4 record. Last year marked the first time that the Bears had won their division or even gone to the playoffs since the 2010 season only to see them drop the wildcard game to the Philadelphia Eagles. Even though they dropped their first playoff game the Bears at least served notice that they are once again one of the better teams in the NFC.

The Packers are coming off a second disappointing season in a row after posting only a 6-9-1 record on the year. The team seemed to really unravel late in the season when following a 1 and 5 stretch of games the team fired head coach Mike McCarthy making former Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin the interim head coach for the final month of games.

The Packers hired Matt LaFleur to lead the teams this season. LaFleur served at the Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator last season. LaFleur has spent 10 seasons coaching in the NFL but this is his first shot at being a head coach.
