No Goodwin today
The San Francisco 49ers released their injury report for Thursday. Here is who didn’t practice:
WR Marquise Goodwin (not injury related)
FB Kyle Juszczyk (knee)
T Mike McGlinchey (knee)
CB Ahkello Witherspoon (foot)
Limited
DE Dee Ford (quadricep)
DT D.J. Jones (hamstring)
TE George Kittle (groin)
RB Raheem Mostert (knee)
WR Dante Pettis (knee)
WR Deebo Samuel (groin)
T Joe Staley (fibula)
Goodwin is interesting. I imagine that was a veteran day off. Some fans are speculating about you know what, but I doubt that. Staley gave it a go on Thursday. Staley said he’s still taking his return from fibula injury day today. He made it through limited practice without issue yesterday and will participate again today. Staley acknowledged the quick turnaround to Thursday night next week could factor into his status. The team should look at this from a long-term perspective. With the 49ers playing a week from today, that makes for a quick turnaround and a risk at a setback. I wouldn’t play Staley Sunday. I’d consider him playing next Thursday. Having Staley available against the Seahawks the following week on Monday night is far more imperative.
Here is Carolina’s practice report:
DNP
T Greg Little (concussion)
LB Christian Miller (ankle)
QB Cam Newton (foot)
Limited
LB Brian Burns (wrist)
G Dennis Daley (groin)
DT Gerald McCoy (knee)
Full
LB Mario Addison (knee)
CB Donte Jackson (groin)
C Tyler Larsen (back)
TE Greg Olsen (finger)
S Eric Reid (ankle)
LB Shaq Thompson (ankle)
G Trai Turner (ankle)
Carolina will get Turner and Jackson back this week. Burns may be a key loss. He had wrist surgery during the bye week.
