Arians: Not one INT was on Jameis Winston

But the headlines will say otherwise.

Remember way back in Week 1 when there were interceptions thrown and Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said two of the three weren’t on franchise quarterback Jameis Winston rather on his receivers?

Well, it’s Week 8 and the Tampa Bay receivers are still struggling with the playbook and their responsibilities.

Several times throughout the 27-23 loss to the Titans on Sunday, Winston threw passes that were quick to be labeled “bad” throws. But they really weren’t and it wasn’t difficult to see that it wasn’t the throws but rather the receivers.

From the press box and after the replays, it was kind of obvious there was miscommunication, especially on two routes by wide receiver Chris Godwin where it looked like he had the hot read but sat on his routes.

It doesn’t take a genius to see it.

After the game, Arians confirmed that the receivers were at fault again for all of Winston’s interceptions in Week 8.

“Jameis didn’t throw one damn interception that was his fault. His receivers let him down today,” said Arians. “Guys stopped on routes that were supposed to go down the middle. The last play was supposed to go down the middle, it was supposed to be a big play. He played his tail off.

“You can write want you want. Not one of those interceptions was his fault. And it’s a damn shame.”

He’s right. It is a shame. But not just for what the headlines will say, but rather that the team is seven games into the season and the Buccaneers receivers haven’t figured things out.

Check out what else Arians had to say below.
