Chiefs add familiar foe to bolster offensive line, per report

San Francisco 49ers v Oakland Raiders

Former Raiders, Jaguars and Eagles offensive lineman Stefan Wisniewski has been signed to the team

Per a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Kansas City Chiefs have made another move to strengthen their injury-ridden roster, signing former Oakland Raiders offensive lineman Stefan Wisniewski on Tuesday evening.

Chiefs starting left tackle Eric Fisher has missed three games after undergoing core muscle injury repair surgery. He is expected to be out for at least a few more games. Starting left guard Andrew Wylie sustained a sprained ankle during Sunday’s 19-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Cameron Erving has been holding the fort at left tackle while Fisher has been out, and rookie Ryan Hunter entered the game on Sunday when Wylie left the game. But Hunter was waived from the squad on Tuesday to make room for another veteran player: defensive tackle Terrell McClain, who was brought in to take up the slack along the defensive line with the injuries to Chris Jones and Xavier Williams.

Wisniewski, 30, was a second-round pick out of Penn State in the 2011 NFL Draft. After four solid years with the Raiders at center and left guard, he was signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2015. He spent the last three seasons as a left guard for the Philadelphia Eagles. He has started 101 games during his eight-year NFL career, which now extends to a ninth with his signing to the Chiefs.

We do not yet know the corresponding roster move the Chiefs will make.
