A perfect September and a Week 4 bye have left the 49ers as the only undefeated NFC team left. They join the Patriots and the Chiefs as the only other teams in the league that have a perfect record. Next Monday’s game against the Cleveland Browns will give the 49ers a shot to show a national audience that they are a team that should be taken seriously. Cleveland is coming off an impressive win against the Baltimore Ravens. They had a lot of hype coming into the season, but the start of it had been unimpressive until this past Sunday. They are hoping to give the 49ers their 1st loss of the season on Monday Night Football.
The 49ers have a big opportunity to separate themselves from their division rivals. The Rams and Seahawks face off on Thursday night football and one of the teams will drop to 3-2. If the 49ers are able to take care of the Browns on Monday, they will move to 4-0 and have a little breathing room in the West. They have a big game against the Rams the following week and then have 3 straight winnable games, with 2 coming against bottom tier teams before facing the Seahawks. These back to back games against the Browns and Rams will go a long way to showing that they can make the playoffs.
On Tuesday, the team made moves for their practice squad. They signed tackle Jaryd Jones-Smith and corner Teez Tabor. To make room, they released linemen Will Holden and Ryan Pope.
