His suspension is officially over
We are officially halfway through the 2019 season for the Minnesota Vikings, and that means that one of their more promising. . .and more troubled. . .young players is officially eligible to return to the team.
The National Football League announced that the suspension of cornerback Holton Hill. . .or, to be more accurate, both of his suspensions. . .were done and that he was free to rejoin the team for the second half of the season.
Hill, who signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2018, and was one of just two undrafted rookies (along with wide receiver Brandon Zylstra) to see action in all 16 games for Minnesota last year. He even wound up starting three games as the Vikings dealt with injuries in the secondary.
In April, Hill was suspended for four games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. That was followed by a second four-game suspension that was announced just before the start of Training Camp, this one for violating the league’s policy against substances of abuse. He was, reportedly, with former Vikings’ running back Roc Thomas when he was arrested for possession of marijuana in January.
The Vikings will have a one-week roster exemption for Hill. The exemption will expire on 4 November, which is the day after the Vikings travel to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9.
Minnesota has had their issues in the secondary over the first half of this season, but it would be a bit much to expect Hill to come in and answer any of those problems right away. He certainly can’t be relied upon until he definitively proves otherwise, and that’s going to take quite a bit of work after missing the first half of this season.
What do you think the Vikings should do with Holton Hill?
