Although the players were given the entire bye week off, coaches and front office members were busy tweaking the roster.

Several transactions were made both adding and subtracting of players. The biggest move was the trade with the Buffalo Bills for wide receiver Zay Jones.

That work continued Wednesday with the Raiders working out big bodied backs LeGarrette Blount and Bo Scarbrough according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Blount, who won back to back Super Bowl championships in 2016 (New England) and 2017 (Philadelphia), spent the 2018 season with the Detroit Lions. Blount will turn 33 in December and was not effective for the Lions carrying the ball 154 times with a 2.7 yards per carry average.

Scarbrough, who was a 2018 seventh round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys was waived by the team in September of 2018 after suffering a hip injury in week two of the preseason which derailed his chances to make the team. Since then he has spent time on the Jaguars practice before being plucked from the squad by the Seattle Seahawks in late December of last season.

He was declared inactive for the final two games of the year before being waived August 31st, 2019.

Blount and Scarbrough are big, physical backs who would provide the offense with another short yardage option behind Josh Jacobs. As of now it’s DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard who back up Jacobs, both are just over 200 pounds.

With an unsettled group of wide receivers combined with the Raiders working out two physical backs it’s no secret what Gruden would like to do on offense going forward.
