The Baltimore Ravens found themselves with an opportunity to make a statement this week against the 5-1 Seattle Seahawks in the pouring rain. Led by big defensive plays, they accomplished just that.
The Ravens started off the game with the ball after the Seahawks won the coin toss and deferred. The offense capitalized on the opportunity to strike first. Lamar Jackson connected with Miles Brown downfield for a 50-yard completion.

After being stopped in the red zone, Justin Tucker made a 25-yard field goal to give the Ravens an early 3-0 lead. On the other end, the Seahawks did not get anything going offensively and punted the ball away after a three-and-out.
Lamar Jackson was able to pick up a first down on an impressive scramble early in the next drive. However, the Seattle's defense shut down the next two plays. Jackson scrambled outside of the pocket on 3rd down and threw a nice pass in a tight window to Willie Snead, but Snead could not hang on to it.
Chris Carson energized Seattle's offense with runs of 8 and 9 yards. D.K. Metcalf then beat Anthony Averett on the sideline for a 37-yard reception from Wilson. Jaron Brown was wide open in the endzone, but he dropped the pass. On third down, Russell Wilson found Tyler Lockett for an incredible 8-yard touchdown to end the drive. Marlon Humphrey seemed to think Wilson was throwing the football away.
Baltimore's next two offensive plays gained no yards setting up a 3rd and 10. Jackson juggled the snap and still managed to run for 28 yards.

On the next play, he hit Mark Andrews across the middle of the field for 33 yards. The Ravens were once again stopped in the red zone. Justin Tucker hit a 28-yard field goal.
After L.J. Fort was called for a roughing the passer penalty, Wilson was able to find Malik Turner and David Moore for 24 and 14-yard completions. Due to good coverage, the Ravens were able to stop their drive in the red zone, as well. Pete Carroll curiously challenged that there was no defensive pass interference call on Averett, even though Metcalf clearly grabbed Averett's facemask. Jason Myers made the 34-yard field goal.
The Ravens quickly went three-and-out when they got the ball back. Marquise Blair deflected a pass on third down. Seattle got to start their possession at their own 45 due to a facemask penalty on Chuck Clark on the punt return. It did not matter though as Marcus Peters picked off Wilson and took it for a 67-yard touchdown. To make it even more impressive, it was the first interception Wilson threw all season. The big play gave the Ravens a 13-10 lead.

With about two minutes left in the half, Wilson threw a high arching pass to Lockett for 33 yards. It narrowly got past Humphrey. They capped off the drive with a field goal to tie the game heading into halftime. At the half, there was an update; Pernell McPhee was suffering an arm injury and was doubtful to return.
Baltimore's defense shut down Seattle to start the half. The defensive line brought the pressure on Wilson forcing a three-and-out. Unfortunately, they could not get a first down on offense and punted the ball right back to the Seahawks.
Led by rushes from Carson and Wilson, they got Myers into field goal position, but he missed the 53-yard attempt in the rain.
As a result, the Ravens got the ball back around midfield. Hayden Hurst made a nice grab on the sideline for 10 yards early in the drive. They then ran the ball four straight times including a nice 14-yard pick up by Gus Edwards. Drops continued to be a problem, however. Andrews dropped a potential touchdown pass in the endzone and a wide open pass on the next play. Jackson scrambled for 13 yards on 3rd and 15. John Harbaugh elected to go for it on 4th down, and Jackson ran up the middle for a 8-yard touchdown giving the Ravens a 20-13 lead.

The Ravens continued to impress on defense. Brandon Carr tackled Chris Carson behind the line of a scrimmage for a loss of 2. Then, Jaylon Ferguson hit Wilson as he threw forcing a 3rd down incompletion and a punt by Seattle.
The Ravens got the ball back at their own 10 with a little over 12 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Andrews dropped another open pass to start the drive, but Jackson continued to get it done with his legs scrambling for 30 yards. Jackson and Edwards continued the march up field by picking up more yardage on the ground. Nick Boyle would subsequently find himself open for a 20-yard reception. Their drive was stopped at the 4-yard line. Nevertheless, Tucker made a 22-yard field goal extending their lead to 10 points with 3:47 to play in regulation.
On Seattle's first offensive play of the drive, Metcalf fumbled the ball. Humphrey recovered it and returned it for a touchdown. The touchdown essentially clinched the win for the Ravens giving them a 30-13 lead with 3:37 left.

Wilson managed to connect with Brown for a 48-yard gain on the next possession. The Seahawks were able to get more points on the scoreboard with a field goal.
The final score was 30-16. The Ravens move on to 5-2 and extend their lead in the AFC North to 2.5 games. They will have another big game next week against the Patriots.
