The Washington Redskins are adamant about keeping rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins on the bench. Washington was shutout 9-0 in a home loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Case Keenum went 9/12 for just 77 yards, while the team rushed for 104 yards. After getting so little from Keenum, one might think the Redskins would consider a quarterback change, but interim head coach Bill Callahan does not seem interested in making one. Callahan said Haskins is “still learning” and that the team still has “total faith” in Keenum’s abilities. “We’re moving forward with Case at this juncture,” he said. This has long been the theme in Washington. Whether it was Jay Gruden or Callahan as coach, the word from the team has been that Haskins is not ready. The consistency of this opinion makes it seem like either that’s an obvious truth, or a directive coming from the front office.
