A battle of two strong teams is marred by injuries.
With a mere three losses between them, the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers are an exciting match up on paper. However, both teams are coming into Sunday Night Football with a multitude of injuries.
The Chiefs are the hardest hit of the two teams. Star quarterback and reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes will not play after suffering a knee injury last week. They will instead ride with Matt Moore at quarterback, a long-time backup in the league. Elsewhere on the injury front, defensive tackle Chris Jones, defensive end Frank Clark, cornerback Kendall Fuller, left tackle Eric Fisher, and left guard Andrew Wylie are all ruled out. The Chiefs offense has carried a sub-par defense all season, but it remains to be seen if that will be the case this week.
Benefiting from these injuries are the Green Bay Packers, much to the frustration of Lions fans hoping to recuperate some ground in the NFC North. The Packers will likely miss receiver Davante Adams yet again, though they have had success with Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Allen Lazard, and Geronimo Allison in his stead. A dangerous rushing attack, led by Aaron Jones, and a solid defense could mean trouble for the Chiefs.
