The Minnesota Vikings enter a Week 5 matchup against the New York Giants with their offense stuck in the mud and hindered by issues between the quarterback and wide receivers.
If quarterback Kirk Cousin & Co. hope to overcome those problems on Sunday, they’ll have to do it without the added benefit of their starting right guard, Josh Kline, who has been ruled out concussion.
Replacing Kline will be rookie fourth-round pick Dru Samia, who was named the Big 12 Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year last season.
In addition to Kline, the Vikings will also be without reserve middle linebacker Kentrell Brothers (wrist/hamstring), leaving the team somewhat thin behind starter Eric Kendricks. The only other linebackers on Minnesota’s roster are WLB Ben Gedeon, SLB Anthony Barr and outside reserve Eric Wilson.
Finally, cornerback Mackensie Alexander is listed as questionable with an elbow injury and is expected to be a game-time decision. If he’s unable to play, Mike Hughes and Kris Boyd will likely see increased roles.
