The final game of the week is upon us.
For the New England Patriots, Week 9 of the regular season will not start until Sunday: the undefeated world champions will travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens. The week does, however, already start today with a game between two NFC West division rivals. So what does this mean for the Patriots? And who should their fans root for? Let’s find out:
San Francisco 49ers (7-0) at Arizona Cardinals (3-4-1)
When: 8:20 p.m. ET
Where: State Farm Stadium, Glendale AZ
Television: Fox, NFL Network
Live streaming: fuboTV (sign up here)
SB Nation coverage: Niners Nation (49ers), Revenge Of The Birds (Cardinals)
Patriots rooting guide: Go... good game? The game between the 49ers and Cardinals actually has little impact on the Patriots and their standing in the playoff race. While the strength of schedule of the AFC North gets impacted, the Patriots have already defeated two of the division’s teams and will go against a third on Sunday. You can therefore root for whichever team you want to root for. Maybe for San Francisco and ex-Patriot Jimmy Garoppolo? Or the Cardinals with former New England pass rusher Chandler Jones in the lineup? Either choice is fine.
