Check out our recap of Week 10 of the regular season.
We have concluded Week 10 of this NFL regular season. For a week that had a fairly poor slate of early Sunday games, we were treated to some outstanding afternoon, Sunday and Monday night matchups.
On Sunday afternoon we saw the Pittsburgh Steelers upset the Los Angeles Rams and the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers battle in a snow game. Then, Sunday night we were treated to a great matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys.
The games were capped off with the best matchup of Week 10, the Seattle Seahawks at the San Francisco 49ers. San Francisco came into the game as the only unbeaten in the NFL, but Russell Wilson and the Seahawks had something to say about that. Seattle won the game in overtime on a game-winning field goal, giving the 49ers their first loss of the season.

1. The Pittsburgh Steelers
When Ben Roethlisberger went down for the season in Week 2, the Pittsburgh Steelers were counted out. The week after his injury, Pittsburgh lost to the 49ers to fall to 0-3 on the year. After five weeks of the 2019 season, Pittsburgh was 1-4. It looked like it would be a lost year for the Steelers, but not so fast. Flash forward to today and Pittsburgh has a 5-4 record, winners of four in a row. If the season ended today, Pittsburgh would hold the six seed in the AFC playoffs. On Sunday the Steelers recorded a huge victory, taking down Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams. The Steelers’ defense put pressure on Goff all day long, sacking him four times and forcing him into two interceptions. They also kept Todd Gurley in check, holding him to just 73 total yards. Mason Rudolph, who has thrown 11 touchdowns to just four interceptions since taking over, had a very nice game, throwing for 242 yards and a touchdown and not turning over the football. Pittsburgh is a team that has a very favorable schedule down the stretch. They have three games against the Jets, Cardinals, and Bengals, all of which should be wins. That would give Pittsburgh eight wins on the year, and taking just one of four against the Browns, Bills, and Ravens could give them a 9-7 record and secure the Steelers a playoff spot.

2. The Oakland Raiders
The Oakland Raiders are another surprise team in the AFC. Coming off an awful 4-12 season in 2018, expectations were not too high for Jon Gruden’s squad. The Raiders have been up and down this season, but last Thursday they got a big win over the division rival Los Angeles Chargers. The Oakland defense had by far their best game of the season, sacking Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers five times and forcing him to throw three interceptions. Both of the Raiders’ first-round picks shined. Clelin Ferrell had 2.5 sacks and three QB hits, and Josh Jacobs continued his outstanding season compiling 101 total yards and a touchdown. The big question on offense for the Raiders was what would they get from Derek Carr this season? So far, Carr has looked pretty solid. The Raiders’ signal-caller has thrown for 2,202 yards and 14 touchdowns, completed 71% of his passes, and thrown just four interceptions. Oakland, much like Pittsburgh, has a very favorable schedule down the stretch. The Raiders have three favorable games against the Bengals, Broncos, and Jets. They could easily win those three games, and then two of three against the Chiefs, Jaguars, and Titans. No one expected the Raiders to be here, but they will be in the AFC playoff hunt down till the very end.

3. The Seattle Seahawks
Coming into Week 10, most people believed the San Francisco 49ers were the team to beat in the NFC. San Francisco was 8-0, leading their division by three games, but the Seattle Seahawks had something to say about this on Monday night. Seattle came into San Francisco and defeated the 49ers 27-24 in overtime. Russell Wilson, despite throwing for just 232 yards and one touchdown, made some absolutely huge plays down the stretch, continuing his bid for NFL MVP. The big story of the game was the Seahawks’ defense. Seattle held the best rushing team in the NFL to just 87 total rushing yards, and sacked 49ers’ quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo five times on the night. They also forced Garoppolo to lose two fumbles, one courtesy of Jadeveon Clowney, who had an outstanding game. Unlike the two teams mentioned before, Seattle does not have an easy schedule down the stretch. Five of their last six games are against playoff contending teams, but if Seattle can go into San Francisco and beat the 49ers, does it really matter? On Monday, Seattle clearly stated their case as the best team in the NFC, and one thing is for sure, no one wants to play this Seahawks team right now.

MVP Watch - Week 10
1. Lamar Jackson - QB Baltimore Ravens
2,036 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, 702 rushing yards, six touchdowns, 101.7 QB Rating. 7-2 team record.
Lamar Jackson continued his MVP caliber campaign on Sunday in a big way against the Cincinnati Bengals. Jackson threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns, completed 88% of his passes, rushed for 65 yards and a touchdowns, and most importantly led his team to a 49-13 victory. Jackson has looked like a man among boys in recent weeks through the air and on the ground. We have never seen a dual-threat quarterback like Jackson in quite some time, and the second-year man is well on his way to winning an MVP award.

2. Russell Wilson - QB Seattle Seahawks
2,738 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, 256 rushing yards, three touchdowns, 115 QB Rating. 8-2 team record.
Despite a tough start Monday night against San Francisco, Russell Wilson proved again why he is many people’s leading MVP candidate. Wilson never backed down, kept his team in the game, and ultimately led his team to win over the formerly 8-0 49ers.

3. Christian McCaffrey - RB Carolina Panthers
989 rushing yards, 11 rushing touchdowns, 48 receptions, 396 yards, three receiving touchdowns. 5-4 team record.
If a running back is ever going to win MVP again, it likely is going to be Christian McCaffrey. The Panthers’ runner has had an outstanding 2019 season, compiling over 1,200 total yards and 14 touchdowns. There is a very good chance McCaffrey will record over 20 total touchdowns and close to 2,000 all purpose yards on the season.
