Confidence is low... again.
The Dallas Cowboys are operating on a short week which means they are able to put last week’s loss more firmly in the rearview mirror quicker than in a normal week.
With the team falling to 6-5 it’s safe to say that morale among fans is low. We track the confidence level of Cowboys fans every week with SB Nation’s FanPulse tool (you can sign up to be part of those that are polled right here) and to no surprise people are down on America’s Team.
It feels safe to say that Thanksgiving Day is going to serve as a pretty big fork in the road for many. If the Cowboys win and keep their playoff hopes alive, people will stay somewhat confident in the overall cause (at least the cause of this specific season). A loss at home to the Bills in front of the world would seemingly send everyone over the edge to the point that they would want to see legitimate change. Some feel that way already and would still feel that way in spite of a win.
The Cowboys are in a unique spot where we all essentially agree that they are a talented team. It seems as if their issue is coaching and game management which has led us to this point of frustration.
Nobody in the NFC East is feeling great these days
FanPulse data also exists for the other 31 NFL fan bases which means that we have access to how our division rivals are feeling. Spoiler alert, nobody feels good.
It’s been a disappointing season for both the New York Giants and Washington Redskins, and while the Philadelphia Eagles are just behind the Cowboys they are also in a tailspin of sorts.
You’ll also note that we included how Buffalo Bills fans are feeling this week, and with an 8-3 record what’s not to love? Buffalo is probably headed to the playoffs and are about to play on Thanksgiving Day for the first time this century. Life is good for them.
Who will life be good for on Thursday night? We’ll have to wait and see.
