Carson Wentz backup plan for 2020?
The Philadelphia Eagles were among a handful of NFL teams that were represented at Colin Kaepernick’s workout on Saturday afternoon, according to NFL Media’s Jim Trotter.
Only a handful of teams made it to the high school field for Kaepernick’s workout. Among them: KC, Philly, Washington, SF and the Jets. There were at least two others that I’ve yet to confirm. ...

The Eagles didn’t merely send some low level pro personnel scout to watch Kaepernick. Instead, the Eagles flew vice president of football operations Andrew Berry down to Georgia one day prior to the team’s big Week 11 game against the New England Patriots.

The NFL intended for Kaepernick’s workout to be held at the Atlanta Falcons’ training facility but the free agent quarterback’s camp made a change of plans at the last minute. The new location was more than an hour drive away and yet the Eagles’ representation still made an effort to attend.
The Eagles obviously don’t have a place for Kaepernick on their roster this season. Philadelphia goes three deep at quarterback with Carson Wentz as the starter, Josh McCown as the veteran backup, and Nate Sudfeld as a third string option.
Things could change after 2019, though, with the 40-year-old McCown likely to retire (again) and Sudfeld set to become an unrestricted free agent. Kaepernick could make sense as a backup to Wentz, assuming he’s willing to accept that role.
No matter how you feel about Kaepernick, it should be agreeable that the Eagles are doing the right thing by at least gathering information on all available players.
It remains to be seen if the 32-year-old Kaepernick will ever get another shot in the NFL. He’s remained unsigned since he opted out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers in March 2017.
