Fact: Devonta Freeman has never eaten a pickle
The Falcons redeemed themselves today and broke a 6-game losing streak with a thrilling win over the most annoying professional sports franchise on the planet Saints. It’s a moral victory, if anything, because let’s be honest, we’re already looking ahead to next season. But smacking around a hated rival on their home turf is always a good time.
Sadly there were some noteworthy injuries today. Let’s break ‘em down.
Devonta Freeman injured his foot or ankle and was ruled out during the second half. It’s bad timing for Free, because he needs to convince the coaching staff he’s still a valuable contributor and that he isn’t injury prone. If he keeps finding himself on the sideline, the Falcons would be hard pressed to justify a decision to keep him around in 2020.
Damontae Kazee nearly tore his own arm off trying to tackle Latavius Murray. Kazee did walk off the field on his own and returned in the fourth quarter, so it would appear that his injury wasn’t all that serious.
Austin Hooper found himself in the medical tent after a low tackle by Demario Davis during the fourth quarter. (Are you noticing a theme yet?) Hooper struggled to get to the sideline after the hit and didn’t return to the game. He’s quickly become one of Matt Ryan’s favorite targets, so let’s hope the injury isn’t too serious.
Kemal Ishmael suffered a head injury and was evaluated for a concussion late in the fourth quarter.
That’s it for now, Falcoholics. In a perfect world, none of these injuries are significant and we’re left to bask in the glory that is today’s win. Discuss!
