Mason Rudolph isn’t pursuing any further punishment against Myles Garrett over Thursday night’s fight — at least legally. Rudolph has decided not to take legal action against Garrett after the Browns defensive lineman swung his helmet and struck the Steelers QB in the head, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. There was initial speculation whether Rudolph would push for actual legal punishment. That was largely fueled by a statement by Rudolph’s agent suggesting that Garrett’s actions were not the type of risk Rudolph should have to face as an NFL player. It’s unclear how much of a case Rudolph might have had — the incident was totally unrelated to any typical actions that would occur as part of a football game — but Rudolph clearly feels this is the NFL’s problem to deal with, not the legal system’s. The league has already handed down fairly severe punishment against Garrett.
