Minnesota Vikings at Dallas Cowboys: Key information and first quarter discussion

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Kansas City Chiefs Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

We’ve waited all day for Sunday night

With most of the action from Week 10 in the National Football League in the books, the eyes of the league are on AT&T Stadium, as the Dallas Cowboys host your Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football. We’re a little less than an hour away from kickoff at Jerryworld, so it’s time to get things started. Here’s everything you need to know for tonight’s contest.

Date and Time: Sunday, 10 November, 2019, 7:20 PM Central time

Location: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas

Television coverage: KARE-11 in the Twin Cities and NBC affiliates across America

Radio Coverage: Vikings Radio Network, Sirius Channel 81, XM Channel 225, SiriusXM App Channel 819

Line: Cowboys -3, Over/Under 48

Chris’ Prediction: Cowboys 24, Vikings 23

Three keys

1) Start fast - Last week in Kansas City, the offense got off to a pretty slow start, and Kirk Cousins’ accuracy was all over the place. On the road in prime time, the Vikings can’t afford to get off to that same kind of start, so they’re going to have to do things to get points on the board early. Whether that’s on Cousins’ arm or the feet of Dalvin Cook, the Vikings need to get themselves a lead in this one early.

2) Discipline on defense - Without Linval Joseph in the middle, we can probably expect to see a big dose of Ezekiel Elliott in this one, and it’s going to be important that the Vikings stay disciplined against the run. They’re also going to need to prevent yards after the catch from the Dallas receivers. The Cowboys’ offense has been very good this season, and the Vikings are going to have to be much better than they were last week if this team wants to win.

3) Limit mistakes - Last week, the Vikings went the entire first half without a penalty, which was good. Then, in the third quarter, they had three penalties on the offensive line that killed drives on offense, and they simply can’t have that in this one. The offensive line has been better this season, but they’ve had penalties at the most inopportune times, which they’ll need to avoid tonight.

As usual, we’ll have a new Open Thread for you at the start of each quarter, so keep your eyes open for that.

Other than that, let’s enjoy tonight’s game and hope like hell that this team can get a win and silence a lot of doubters.

SKOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL VIKINGS!!!!
