Rams-Steelers Friday injury report for Week 10

NFL: Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

James Conner is already out. JuJu Smith-Schuster was surprise addition to Pittsburgh’s Friday injury report

The Los Angeles Rams (5-3) are heading into Week 10 fresh off their bye and set to see some key contributors return to health. They’ll fly out to Pittsburgh this week to take on the Steelers (4-4)...who are hurting, specifically on offense.

The Rams will see Clay Matthews return to action this weekend, though DC Wade Phillips did admit that he’ll not see his usual workload, at least upon initial return. HC Sean McVay confirmed that RB Malcolm Brown is also good to go this Sunday — a good sign for a Rams’ rushing attack that needs to get going in the back half of the year.

Here’s a look at the Rams final injury report for Week 10:

It was announced earlier this week that Brandin Cooks will sit this one out with a concussion, but he’s already back out on the practice field and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him suit up in Week 11. Bryce Hager (shoulder) was placed on IR yesterday.

So the only question marks would be JoJo Natson (illness) and Todd Gurley (not injury related). Hopefully JoJo is able to shake whatever is ailing him. Gurley’s addition, especially on Friday, is a bit surprising but coming off a bye week I can’t imagine it’s anything more than rest. Still trivial.

As for the Steelers, they’ll be without three running backs — including starter James Conner — this Sunday, and star wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster (toe) was also added to Friday’s report. If he’s unable to go, or even limited, that’s another big hit to the Steelers’ offense.

Here is the Steelers’ Friday report, followed by thoughts from the crew over at Behind the Steel Curtain:

The Steelers had hoped James Conner would be available Sunday especially after he was able to practice in a limited fashion on Wednesday. Unfortunately, Conner was unable to participate the rest of the week and has been ruled out for Sunday. As expected, both Benny Snell Jr. and Roosevelt Nix missed practice again on Friday and are both out against the Rams. Surprisingly, Trey Edmunds was a full participant on Friday with his injured ribs and does not have an injury designation for Sunday.

The new addition to the injury report on Friday was wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster who was limited with a foot injury. He is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game

Ramon Foster suffered a setback with the NFL concussion protocol as he was unable to practice Thursday or Friday after being limited on Wednesday and has been ruled out against the Rams. It was reported Matt Feiler moved to left guard for practice on Thursday and Chukwuma Okorafor came in to play the right tackle position. What is unclear about the situation is if this was strictly to get both players some practice time as they will be the main backups at those positions on Sunday, or if the Steelers decided to go with Feiler at guard over B.J. Finney who started last week against the Indianapolis Colts. According to DKPittsburghSports Dejan Kovacevic, Feiler will get the start at left guard with Chuks getting his first snaps of 2019 as he will be the starter at right tackle.
