Despite a last-minute change of venue, the Lions were reportedly in attendance during Kaepernick’s Saturday workout.
If you predicted that the Colin Kaepernick workout on Saturday would turn into a bit of a circus, congratulations! You win 50,000 internet points.
Kaepernick’s original workout was canceled when the former quarterback pulled out of the NFL event a few hours before it was scheduled to begin. Both sides put out official responses on what exactly went wrong:

While there are inconsistencies from both sides, one thing was clear: a major sticking point in why the original workout did not happen was because the NFL would not allow Kaepernick’s camp to record the workout and the media was not allowed to attend.
So, instead, Kaepernick held his own workout an hour away, with media available to attend, and the event was even live-streamed on YouTube.
The problem: Most NFL teams that had planned on attending the workout bailed when the venue was moved at the last minute. According to several reports, just six or seven of the originally scheduled 25 teams traveled to the new field to see Kaepernick throw on Saturday evening.
According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, the Detroit Lions were one of those teams:

Earlier in the week, Lions head coach Matt Patricia confirmed they were going to send a representative down to Atlanta to watch the workout.
“We as an organization, we always do our due diligence on all players that are available,” Patricia said. “I know Bob (Quinn) and his staff will have someone down there to watch the workout, and we’ll see where that goes.”
Kaepernick is currently an unrestricted free agent able to sign with any team at any time. The Lions’ current starting quarterback, Matthew Stafford, will miss his second consecutive game on Sunday as he continues to recover from fractures in his back. In the meantime, backup quarterback Jeff Driskel will make his second start of the year against the Dallas Cowboys.
