Star RB to reporters: “Next question”
New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley appeared frustrated after his team’s 34-27 loss to the crosstown rival New York Jets.
Barkley rushed for just 1 yard on 13 carries, easily the worst rush yardage total of his career. He also caught five passes for 30 yards, including a 22-yarder.
Coach Pat Shurmur said he was “banged up” after the game and Barkley did go for X-rays. Asked if he was hurt, “next question.”
The second-year back also answered “yes” when asked if it was the most frustrating game of his career.
“Yes, a frustrating game that we lost.”
A low point of the game for Barkley was likely Jets safety Jamal Adams’ strip-sack touchdown on Daniel Jones. Adams blasted through a blocking effort by Barkley to make the play.
“Jamal Adams beat me, it’s as simple as that. He’s a heck of a player, All-Pro. I didn’t really want to switch jerseys with him at the end of the game, I jokingly told him that,” said Barkley. “I have to be better there.”

On top of carrying the ball 13 times for just 1 yard, he was a liability in pass protection.

Barkley hasn’t been the same since missing three games with a high ankle sprain. As for the emotions Barkley was feeling, the running back was clear.
“Frustration, disappointment, anger, everything you said. No one wants to be 2-8, no one wants to have a losing record. Everyone’s upset, everyone’s frustrated,” said Barkley.
At 2-8, the Giants will head into their bye week. After that they’ll travel to Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears on Nov. 24th at 1 p.m.
