Start’em Sit’em Week 11
Start’em Sit’em is back for Week 11 of the NFL season. Along with the other fine tools provided by Gridiron Experts, this article is here to help guide you on who to start and who to sit as you head towards victory in your Week 11 Fantasy Football matchups. There are several matchups worth discussing and we will go through those matchups now. One friendly reminder heading into this Week 11 Start Sit article is that there will be four teams on their bye week. This week, the Packers, Giants, Seahawks, and Titans will all have the week off.
Recapping Last Week
Week 11 was a solid week for this column. Both of my quarterback selections, Ryan Tannehill and Kyler Murray had wound up finishing inside the top-10. While the running back picks were a bit of a disaster, the wide receiver selections that I made came out looking good. While Emmanuel Sanders had left the 49ers game early with a rib injury, Jamison Crowder was able to finish inside the top-10. My biggest hit of the entire week was Christian Kirk who absolutely crushed it this past week. Against the Buccaneers this past Sunday, the Cardinals second-year receiver had 138 yards and three touchdowns. The lastest results have me determined to continue on delivering you the best picks that Week 11 has to offer, so let’s get started. As always, if you any other start or sit questions that are not answered here, please feel free to reach me on Twitter.

The following are my Start’em Sit’em Week 11 recommendations:
Start’em Sit’em Quarterbacks
Josh AllenBills @ Dolphins
ESPN Starting Percentage: 47.3%
Despite not throwing a touchdown pass, Josh Allen would finish this past week as a top-1o quarterback. As per usual, Allen had salvaged his fantasy day on the ground as he had two rushing touchdowns. That would mark Allen’s third career game with multiple rushing scores and next for Allen in Week 11 is the Miami Dolphins. While the Dolphins are winners of two in a row, don’t let that winning streak deter you from starting Allen as the Bills signal-caller has done well for fantasy owners when facing the Dolphins. In each of his three career starts against the Dolphins, Allen has finished the week no worse than the seventh-best quarterback. Digging a little deeper, Allen has now had five career games with multiple touchdown passes and three of those games, you guessed it, came against the Dolphins. On top of all of this, we should get back to Allen and his ability to score touchdowns on the ground. As a running quarterback this season, Allen might not be tallying up a lot of yards but he leads all Bills players with six rushing touchdowns and he has also had five broken tackles on the year. It might be a guessing game as to where the points come from but one thing is clear, in Week 11, Josh Allen will be one of the top plays at quarterback.
Kyler MurrayCardinals @ 49ers
ESPN Starting Percentage: 56.4%
For the second week in a row, Kyler Murray is making this start column and it is with good reason. In four out of the last six weeks, Murray has finished inside the top-10 in fantasy scoring among quarterbacks. Week 11 will produce a familiar foe as the Cardinals head to Santa Clara to take on the 49ers. In his early career, the rookie signal-caller already has some familiarity with this 49ers defense. Back on Halloween night, against the 49ers, Murray had 241 yards passing and two touchdowns. That performance would have him tie as the sixth-best quarterback on the week. That performance would also mark one of just two times in which the 49ers allowed a quarterback to finish a week in the top-10. Last week I had noted that I would still start Murray at Buccaneers in spite of him having zero touchdown passes on the road. Murray made me look pretty smart as he would throw for three touchdowns. While I’m not envisioning another three passing touchdown performance, I do think that Murray will start to pad those road numbers. Until he is started in over 60% of ESPN leagues, I’m going to continue to recommend that you start Kyler Murray.
Jameis WinstonBuccaneers vs. Saints
ESPN Starting Percentage: 55.5%
Last week, for the twentieth time in 65 career games, Jameis Winston threw multiple interceptions. In Week 11, the accident-prone Winston and the Buccaneers will be welcoming in a New Orleans Saints team that is coming off of an embarrassing loss. While this Saints defense is middle of the road in regards to season-long fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks, they have had just two games in which they allowed an opposing quarterback to finish inside the top-1o. In the Buccaneers matchup against the Saints back in Week 5, Winston would throw for 204 yards and two touchdowns. Oddly enough, that matchup was just one of three games this season in which Winston did not throw an interception. That being said, in the three games that the Buccaneers have played in Raymond James Stadium, Winston has thrown six interceptions. Between the Saints looking to bounce back and Winston’s propensity to turn the ball over, I’m staying away from Jameis Winston in Week 11.
Start’em Sit’em Running Backs
Damien WilliamsChiefs @ Chargers
ESPN Starting Percentage: 41.3
Despite his fumble this past Sunday, I’m starting to buy into Damien Williams more and more. In Williams’ first six games of the season, the Chiefs back had only averaged 2.0 yards per carry. The script has now flipped as in his last two games, Williams is now averaging 6.5 yards per carry. Even if you want to split hairs, play hypotheticals, and take away his 91-yard touchdown run in Week 9, he is still on the rise and averaging more than three yards per carry in his last few games. Getting back to that previously mentioned fumble, even after that, Damien Williams still out-touched Darrel Williams fifteen to two. While I know a stretch of productive games now won’t erase the first eight weeks of mediocrity, I think Williams is looking like he is about to hit his fantasy stride as he now turns his attention to the Chargers. This is a Chargers defense that is allowing the fourth-most points to running backs and is also one of nine teams to allow 1,000 or more rushing yards. On top of that, looking closer at the Chargers starts at home, they have been in the top-10 in most points allowed to the position in three out of their five home games. Damiens Williams truthers have long been waiting to justify their second-round selection. So, in Week 11, it is better late than never for the Chiefs running back.
Brian HillFalcons @ Panthers
ESPN Starting Percentage: 0.0%
Between Ito Smith heading to the injured reserve and Devonta Freeman in need of an MRI on his foot, not only is Brian Hill a top waiver wire add, but he is also a must-start option in Week 11 against the Panthers. On top of this being a volume play, this is also just as much about the Carolina Panthers. Headed into Week 11, this Panthers defense is allowing the fifth-most points to the running back position. While that ranking in itself is enticing, it is their last three games that have really caught my eye. So far this season, the Panthers have allowed 241.6 points this season to the running back position and 48.7% of those points have come in the last three weeks. This past week against the Saints, Brian Hill would see 21 total touches for 71 yards and a touchdown. That performance would have Hill finish as the tenth best running back on the week and that would serve as the second-best performance by a Falcons running back this season. With only four top-20 finishes from Falcons running backs, I understand that the Falcons backs aren’t the tastiest of plays. That being said though, this is simply too good of a matchup to pass up.
Of the 241.6 points that the #Panthers have allowed to running backs this season…
48.7% of those points have come in their last 3 games. 💥
Up next for the Panthers in Week 11 is the Falcons. 👀

David Johnson
Cardinals @ 49ers
ESPN Starting Percentage: 79.1%
This one honestly shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone. With David Johnson mustering just two yards on five carries, you could almost feel the fantasy football universe collectively hit the panic button. His injury woes have opened the door for Chase Edmonds and most recently, the acquisition of Kenyan Drake. Even after returning from his injuries this past week, the Cardinals back didn’t look the same and I’m still not a believer that Johnson is at full strength. He has also played better at home than on the road as just one of his five touchdowns on the year have come on the road. In regards to the Cardinals opponent, the 49ers are allowing the fourth-fewest points to the running back position. All three of the touchdowns that they have allowed on the ground this season have come in the last three weeks and one of those touchdowns was from Johnson’s teammate, Kenyan Drake. That is precisely the point, Drake’s previous success against the 49ers and Johnson not appearing to be at full strength, I believe that it is Kenya Drake, and not David Johnson that is the Cardinals running back that you want to start in Week 11.
Start’em Sit’em Wide Receivers
Marquise BrownRavens vs. Texans
ESPN Starting Percentage: 21.2%
While everyone is raving about Lamar Jackson and his performance against the Bengals this past week, it was also Marquise Brown who was putting on a show for his fantasy owners. In his second game back from injury, Brown would finish this past week as the tenth best wide receiver in fantasy. In that game, Brown would catch all four of his targets for 80 yards and a touchdown. The good times should continue to roll for Brown with his next opponent being the Houston Texans. After nine games played this season, the Texans defense is allowing the fifth-most points to the position. On top of that, the Texans are one of just six teams to allow more than 12 touchdowns. Most of the damage that has been done to the Texans secondary has been on the road. In three of the five road games this season, the Texans have finished in the top-10 in most points allowed to wide receivers. Not only is Brown in store for a nice fantasy outing in Week 11, but he will also have his first receiving of the season at home.
Courtland SuttonBroncos @ Vikings
ESPN Starting Percentage: 16.1%
Granted, this start percentage is as long as it is thanks to the Broncos being on bye last week. Regardless of his percentage, Courtland Sutton is a player worth starting in Week 11. Just prior to the Broncos bye week, Sutton would finish as the sixteenth best wide receiver on the week with 56 yards receiving and a touchdown. What really struck my eye was that Broncos quarterback, Brandon Allen had targeted Sutton eight times in that game. All of this came against a Browns defense that is currently in the top-10 in most points allowed to the position. Up next for Sutton and the Broncos is a Vikings defense that is allowing the third-most points to the position. In two games against the NFC North this season, Sutton has 17.2 points scored. Against the Vikings this in Week 11, I say that Sutton has 17.2 points or more. Optimism might not be as high as the mountains in the mile-high city, but Courtland Sutton is one of the few Broncos fantasy options that you can cash in on.
Jamison CrowderJets @ Redskins
ESPN Starting Percentage: 29.4
For weeks, I have touted that there will be some fantasy relevancy for some members of the Jets. With top-10 finished among wide receivers in each of the Jets last two games, it looks as if Jamison Crowder is benefiting from his schedule. Coming up next in Week 11 for Crowder will be the Washington Redskins. Currently, the Redskins are middle of the road against wide receivers as they are allowing the fifteenth-most points to the position. While, yes, this does serve as a revenge game for Crowder, I also like how frequently he has been targeted this season. Nine games into this Jets season, Jamison Crowder is the most targeted player on the team with 65 targets and is on pace for a career-high for 115 targets. Even though the Redskins are tied in allowing the third-fewest receptions to wide receivers over the last three weeks, I still like Crowder to build on his streak of being targeted five or more times in his last five games.
Odell Beckham Jr.Browns vs. Steelers
ESPN Starting Percentage: 79.8%
For weeks, I have been asked on twitter if people should sit Odell Beckham Jr. The majority of those times that I have been asked, maybe it was due to name recognition or perhaps I genuinely thought that Odell Beckham would finally produce but enough is enough. In the Browns Week 11 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, I’m advising you to sit the ultra-popular wide receiver. Beckham’s current drought of seven-straight games without a touchdown is the longest stretch of his entire career. Perhaps Baker Mayfield was correct in saying that he and Beckham were still working on their chemistry. Even with Beckham being targeted 12 times this past week, he only managed to finish as the thirty-seventh best receiver on the week. As previously mentioned Beckham and the bland Browns will take on a Pittsburgh Steelers team that is just outside the top-12 in fewest points allowed to wide receivers. Most notably, in two out of the three games that the Steelers have played on the road on the season, they have been in the top-12 in fewest points allowed to the position. The lone road game in which they were carved by opposing wide receivers was before the Steelers acquired Minkah Fitzpatrick. Any success by Odell Beckham this season is going to a frustrating blip on the radar and I do not think that Week 11 is one of those weeks.
Start’em Sit’em Tight Ends
Jared CookSaints @ Buccaneers
ESPN Starting Percentage: 46.8%
After a heavily hyped off-season, things started off horrifically slow for those who drafted Jared Cook. Thankfully, after finishing outside the top-12 in his first four games, things began to turn around for the veteran tight end. As a matter of fact, in the last three games that Cook has played in, the Saint’s tight end has finished no worse than the eleventh best tight end on the week. As a matter of fact, this past Sunday would mark the tenth time in Cook’s 11-year career where he 10 or more targets in a game. That ten targets took Cook out of touchdown-dependent territory as he finished with six receptions for 74 yards. With optimism abound, Cook and the Saints will now set their sights on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Much like Cook’s current play, tight ends that have faced off against the Buccaneers have been doing well for fantasy. So far this season, the Buccaneers are credited with allowing the second-most points to the position. This would include the second-most yards with 695 and the third most touchdowns with seven. This will be the best matchup that Jared Cook will see for the next few years so don’t be afraid to plug him in
Tyler EifertBengals @ Raiders
ESPN Starting Percentage: 3.9%
It is safe to say that headed into Week 11, the Cincinnati Bengals have seen better days. Currently winless and looking for answers, the Bengals will now head to Oakland to take on a Raiders team that is allowing the fourth-most points to the position. This should serve as a prime spot for Tyler Eifert who last week would haul in his first touchdown reception since the second week of the season against the 49ers. While the two touchdowns that Eifert scored this season have both come at home, he has more receptions and yards on the road. Circling back to the Raiders, the AFC West team is tied for allowing the second-most touchdowns in the league with seven. In Week 11, I like Tyler Eifert’s chances against a Raiders defense that has allowed opposing tight ends to finish inside the top-1o in three out of their last four weeks.
Kyle RudolphVikings vs. Broncos
ESPN Starting Percentage: 21.4
I could not in good faith recommend that you sit any of the players that are currently being started in 50% or more of ESPN leagues. So instead of going with one of those players, I’m going with a tight end that had one of the best fantasy weeks this past Sunday, Kyle Rudolph. This past Sunday night, against the Dallas Cowboys, Rudolph would score two touchdowns on just four receptions. That was a performance that had Rudolph finishing the week as the second-best tight end and might have caught your eye as a player to consider starting in Week 11. I would urge you to hold off on that thought though as I’m not in love with the next opponent for the Vikings, the Denver Broncos. Headed into Week 11, the Broncos are allowing the eleventh fewest points to the position. That ranking would include the Broncos allowing just one touchdown on the season to tight ends. Circling back to Rudolph, it is alarming to me just how touchdown-dependant the Vikings tight end. While Rudolph has had three touchdowns in his last two games, he has had just 37 yards receiving in those games.
Start’em Sit’em D/ST
SteelersSteelers @ Browns
ESPN Starting Percentage: 48.2%
As previously mentioned, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be taking on the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night Football. On Sunday night, the Steelers were one the highly discussed teams in fantasy as they finished as the number one D/ST on the week. It really goes farther than just this past week as the Steelers defense has been on an absolute roll as of late. In five of the Steelers last six games, their D/ST has managed to finish inside the top-5 in D/ST scoring. While Baker Mayfield’s last two games have been the only games in which he hasn’t thrown an interception this season, I think that the Browns passing game is in for a long night and the Steelers D/ST will be a big beneficiary of that.
49ers49ers vs. Cardinals
ESPN Starting Percentage: 67.1%
In Week 11, the 49ers will take on the Arizona Cardinals in what will be a rematch from their Halloween showdown two weeks ago. In that game when the 49ers played the Cardinals, it would be just one of three games in which the 49ers D/ST did not finish inside the top-12. While the 49ers D/ST bounced back against the Seahawks this past week, I still think that they will have their fair share of problems against Kyler Murray and this Cardinals offense. On top of Murray’s strong play as a rookie, I also look at his ability to protect the football as he has just one interception in his last six games. The 49ers will make some plays but not enough to be a top-scoring D/ST in Week 11.
Thanks for reading Start’em Sit’em Week 11 and Good Luck!
