Two historic franchises face off this week on TNF.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the most successful franchises in the NFL’s history, sustaining that success through recent decades. The Cleveland Browns...well...they have been a winning team much less consistently in the past two decades since their rebirth, and that trend has continued in 2019 despite a much-hyped offseason.
This week, the two AFC North rival teams will meet in the week’s early game, playing in prime time. It has the potential to be a showcase game for Pittsburgh, a team that has won its last four games and is 5-2 since Ben Roethlisberger was injured and knocked out for the season.
A battle of second-year quarterbacks will ensue this week, with number one overall pick Baker Mayfield facing 2018 third-rounder Mason Rudolph. The two were rivals in college as well, with Mayfield playing for Oklahoma and Rudolph at Oklahoma State. Rudolph’s only win over Oklahoma came in his second start, a 35-19 win during his freshman year of 2014 — the year Mayfield sat out after transferring to Norman from Texas Tech. Meanwhile, Mayfield-led Sooners teams went 3-0 against OK State in 2015 through 2017.
Which former Big XII quarterback will come out on top in tonight’s game? Tune in to find out.
