Tweet Recap: Falcons vs. Saints

Let’s see what Twitter had to say.

Hey Falcoholics! On Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons shocked the world and upset the New Orleans Saints, 26-9. If you missed the incredible game, or just want to review the tweets from it, look no further. Falcons fans on Twitter have you covered, and without further ado, let’s begin.

The Falcons would start the game off, after winning the coin toss.

The Falcons came out looking pretty good actually, up until a couple false starts stalled the drive in the red zone.

Newly added kicker Younghoe Koo connected on a 37-yard field goal, giving the Falcons the early lead 3-0.

Also, an Atlanta Falcons legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer was in attendance.

On the Saints first drive, they marched down field, as predicted. However, after some early struggles by cornerback Isiaiah Oliver, the Falcons got a sack thanks to De’Vondre Campbell. The Saints were held to a field goal, which felt like a win. 3-3.

To start the 2nd quarter, the Falcons had a 17-play drive which resulted in an Austin Hooper touchdown. Koetter and the offense were rolling to say the least. 10-3.

The Saints then received the ball, which.. get this, the Falcons held them to a punt!

And another sack!!

The Falcons moved down field prior to halftime, thanks largely to a big play by Julio Jones. They stalled in the red zone, resulting in another field goal. 13-3.

The Saints kicked a field goal before halftime, and the Falcons entered the break with a 13-6 lead.

The Saints would get the ball to start the second half, and the Falcons (shockingly) held them to a punt.

The Falcons then went three-and-out for their first offensive appearance in the second half. The Saints drove down field and were held to a field goal, thanks largely in part to a Grady Jarrett-Vic Beasley sack, the Falcons 3rd sack up to this point. 13-9.

Thanks to some Saints’ penalties and a red-hot offense, the Falcons were driving!

To start the 4th quarter, the Falcons were in the red zone facing a 3rd & 8.. AND running back Brian Hill scored on a touchdown reception! 20-9.

The Falcons defense was literally playing their best game of the 2019 season. They forced ANOTHER punt, thanks to Grady Jarrett’s 2nd sack on the day.

The Saints initially stopped the Falcons, but a roughing the kicker penalty gave the Falcons a fresh set of downs.

The Falcons’ new kicker Younghoe Koo knocked down his third field goal on the day, extending the lead to 23-9.

The Falcons defense was not done. Grady Jarrett recorded another sack, giving him 2.5 sacks on the day. AND then Vic Beasley recorded a 4th down sack, ending the Saints chances of getting back into the game.

Matt Ryan threw an interception, but the Falcons defense didn’t care. They came out and stopped the Saints as they had all day long.

Koo kicked another field goal, ending the day a perfect 4/4.

Falcons win, 26-9. GAME OVER!

And that’s the game, folks. The Falcons came in and played a tremendous game on both sides of the ball. You have to be proud of the effort shown in the game, especially sitting at 1-7 (now 2-7).
