Week 9 Monday Night Football: Patriots rooting guide, how to watch, open thread

The final game of the week is upon us.

For the New England Patriots, Week 9 of the regular season is already in the books and it brought the team its first defeat if the season: the reigning world champions traveled to Baltimore to take on the Ravens and were beaten with a final score of 37-20. Today is therefore a welcome opportunity for some relaxed football and to scout a team that will visit New England later this year.

With that in mind, what does this mean for the Patriots? And who should the fans root for? Let’s find out:

Dallas Cowboys (4-3) at New York Giants (2-6)

When: 8:15 p.m. ET

Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford NJ

Television: ESPN

Live streaming: fuboTV (sign up here)

SB Nation coverage: Blogging The Boys (Cowboys), Big Blue View (Giants)

Patriots rooting guide: Go...? The Patriots have already defeated the Giants earlier this season and will go up against the Cowboys in Week 12, so the matchup between the two NFC East rivals has no impact whatsoever on the club — especially considering that the only draft pick compensation for defensive end Michael Bennett will not come from Dallas to New England until 2021. Rooting for the Cowboys is therefore unnecessary, as is rooting for the Giants. So, go refs? Go broadcast crew? Go Nate Solder? The last one actually makes sense, because rooting for the long-time Patriots left tackle is never a wrong idea. Go Nate Solder!
