Several other Bengals are alternates for the game.

The NFL announced this evening that Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins has been voted to the AFC team for this season’s Pro Bowl game.

“It’s an honor to be named to the Pro Bowl and Geno is very deserving,” said Bengals head coach Zac Taylor in a press release. “Geno has put together another strong season and continues to show why he is one of the best defensive players in the league.”

This is Atkins’ eighth career Pro Bowl nod, the most ever by a Bengals defensive player and the second-most in team history behind former offensive tackle Anthony Munoz (11). Atkins, a 10th-year pro, has 42 tackles this season, including 4.5 sacks and four tackles for losses.

Additionally, running back Joe Mixon was voted a fifth alternate at running back, and safety Brandon Wilson (Reserve/Injured) was voted a second alternate as a returner. Alternates are added to the game if voted player(s) in their position group are unable to participate. Selections from the two teams reaching the Super Bowl will be among those unable to play, as will players who are not cleared due to injury.

The 2020 Pro Bowl, which kicks off at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, will be televised live from Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla. on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, ABC, Disney XD and on the ESPN app.
