All 1,683 players to put on a Bears uniform are featured in this unique poster.

The Bears are nearing the conclusion of their historic 100th season, and a recent work of art depicted the team’s illustrious history in unique fashion.

Dan Duffy, the founder of Art of Words, recently constructed a piece depicting Soldier Field, as well as the Chicago skyline, recreated with the names of every single player to play for the Bears from 1920 to 2018. The 16”x20” piece took about 200 hours between research, coloring, sketching and shading, and it features 1,683 names printed on acid-free, archival matte paper.

From Red Grange to Khalil Mack, Dick Butkus to Walter Payton, and Cade McNown to Kevin White, the piece features many names that will take you on a trip down memory lane. The piece displays the franchise’s legends, their unsung heroes and names you’d rather forget. If you can think of them, they’ll be in this piece.

“I typically try to work around big milestones such as championships and anniversaries,” Duffy said. “Soldier Field was always on my list...there aren’t many stadiums still standing that have been around since the [1920s]. This year was perfect timing with the Bears’ 100th anniversary.”

Duffy has received national attention for his work, being featured on outlets like ESPN, USA Today and the Today Show. The Philadelphia-based artist began his work with pieces based around sports figures in the Philadelphia area but has since expanded his subjects to figures across the nation.

“I actually did the first piece to impress my girlfriend at the time,” he explained. “The [MLB’s Philadelphia] Phillies had just won the World Series in [2008], and I created a Brad Lidge piece with the scores of every game from that season...I guess it worked because we’re married now!”

The piece can be purchased on his website for as low as $49.99. A framed version of the poster is available for $209.99.
