The return of the Manning face.
It is time.
Tonight, a legend returns to Monday Night Football. Eli Manning, the man, the myth, the meme himself, will return to a starting role as his New York Giants face off against the Philadelphia Eagles.
With Daniel Jones out with an ankle injury, longtime starter Manning takes over the reins of a hapless Giants team sitting at 2-10. A high draft pick is within their grasp. It has been another forgettable season for the Giants. Their bright spot last season, Saquon Barkley, has been banged up this season, and his numbers have plummeted. The offense has struggled in the post Odell Beckham Jr. era, with rookie Darius Slayton leading the receiving corps with just 505 yards.
Speaking of struggling, the Eagles have not been capitalizing on a weak NFC East. With a record of 5-7, they are battling the Dallas Cowboys for the division crown and a playoff berth. We could see a sub-.500 team in the playoffs if neither team improves. The Eagles are losers of three straight, the latest of which came against the Miami Dolphins. The Eagles have four NFC West games on deck, and given the struggles of Washington, New York, and Dallas, they have ample opportunity to win the division. They need to overcome themselves first.
