Report: Cowboys working out kickers Kai Forbath and Tristan Vizcaino

NFL: New England Patriots at Houston Texans Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports

Another week of workouts for potential Cowboys kickers.

Brett Maher is the professional kicker that the Dallas Cowboys employ to play football for them. Brett Maher is having what is literally the worst season that any professional kicker has had for any team over the last four years. Literally.

Maher certainly has redeeming qualities. He can make a kick from Waco, but generally he hasn’t been very good. In spite of this the Cowboys have continued to roll with him at a position that can be very critical in NFL games.

After two misses on Thanksgiving Day against the Buffalo Bills, it appeared as if the Cowboys may have had enough of Maher. They worked out three kickers last week but ultimately decided to stay the course with Maher. He would go on to miss again on Thursday night in Chicago.

Jerry Jones was very critical of the kicking game specifically in his press conference following the loss to the Bears. The Cowboys are seemingly adjusting and are in fact working out two kickers again according to the Dallas Morning News.

Tristan Vizcaino is a name that you’re likely not all too familiar with. He went 12 of 20 during his career at the University of Washington so not the largest sample size, but it isn’t great.

Kai Forbath is a name that a lot of NFL fans know. He has bounced around the league a lot over the years and most recently played for the New England Patriots against the Houston Texans. He made one of his two field goals.

Nobody knows why the Cowboys are solely focused on these type of kickers. There are guys like Matt Bryant or Matthew McCrane that seem to make sense, but for whatever reason this is how the Cowboys want to roll.
