Back-to-back 450-yard games, earns Bucs QB back-to-back fan selections

Scoring 38-points against Detroit Lions while throwing for 458-yards and four touchdowns got Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a win. It also got the quarterback his second-straight Bucs Nation Community Player of the Week Award!

Following his record setting performance in Week 15, the fifth year quarterback not only won the award, but ran away with it by earning 75% of the total vote.

Wide receiver Breshad Perriman was on the receiving end of three Winston touchdown passes, and came in second with 15% of the vote.

With a win this week, Winston becomes the first player to win the fan recognition as the best from the game that was for two straight weeks.

The first four weeks of the award’s existence, defense dominated the votes with Devin White earning two of them, just not in consecutive weeks. But two 450-yard performances from their quarterback has given the fans reason to vote for offense in the week’s following wins against the Lions and Indianapolis Colts.

Coming up this weekend, the Houston Texans visit Tampa trying to end the Bucs’ four-game winning streak while sewing up their own AFC South Division Title in the process. With injuries to Jordan Whitehead, and now Carlton Davis III, it’s going to be a big challenge for a young defense to derail Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins, and a determined Texans squad.

If the Buccaneers come out on top, it will likely be off the back of a particularly big defensive performance, and we may very well see a return to the defense winning next week’s vote.

Or, in a shoot out, Winston and company certainly have an opportunity to put up a large amount of points. A third straight 450-yard performance would be really hard to beat by any teammate, let alone a defensive one.

Thanks to all who voted, and come back after the game this Sunday for your next chance to crown your Bucs Nation Community Player of the Week!
