Tua Tagovailoa Declares For 2020 Draft https://t.co/5haPtwqUA4 pic.twitter.com/3UxRI1NnKQ

The Joker was right about one thing - if you're really good at something, never do it for free. https://t.co/9gHDZFrYQ2

Redskins are definitely in a much better position now with Tua declared. If he checks out medically throughout the process, teams will have to look to move up to get him.
— Steve Shoup (@Steveospeak) January 6, 2020
The comp for Tua Tagovailoa that some Alabama coaches have given NFL scouts coming through: A left-handed Drew Brees.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) January 6, 2020
What Baker Mayfield was to the 2018 Draft, and Kyler Murray was to the 2019 Draft, Tua Tagovailoa becomes for the 2020 draft. Not in where he's drafted necessarily, but as the overwhelming No. 1 among storylines.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) January 6, 2020
Would bet against defensive-minded Ron Rivera trading out of 2 with Chase Young on the board, but things get interesting if other teams desperately want Tua despite he injuries. https://t.co/IvsWKMPWFL
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) January 6, 2020
I mean, yes. That's the point. The level of the offer must be substantial enough to consider trading out with Chase Young there. https://t.co/LETMoGD9Ez

Who do you think takes Tua?
Skins denied it at the time but now confirm they began drive for new coaching staff/front office just after Thanksgiving. Dan Snyder and former coach Joe Gibbs interviewed Ron Rivera and others prior to end of regular season. Gibbs played a key role for ownerahip in the process
— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) January 6, 2020
That said, I think Rivera was a better choice than McCarthy among the re-treads. Score this round for the Redskins.
— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) January 6, 2020
Talking to friends around the league about McCarthy/Cowboys. Everyone says same thing- Are they asking him to recreate GB or do they want him to be the leader of the current staff (meaning not as many changes).
— Daniel Jeremiah (@MoveTheSticks) January 6, 2020
It's not official, official but as first reported by Jay Glazer. The #Cowboys have their new head coach. Player reaction and update pic.twitter.com/l1Ea3C5rXm

Randall Cobb and his wife tell me they love Dallas and this team. She has already interviewed with law firms should they stay. With a newborn expected any day now, bigger fish to fry but the desire is there. https://t.co/73KZPexL0d

Mike McCarthy is the #Cowboys' new head coach, and expect him to move quickly on staffing. One name to watch for defensive coordinator: Mike Nolan. @nflnetwork @gmfb pic.twitter.com/zYg7jKctCG

Does this mean Jim Haslett is headed to Dallas?
— Sean Kennedy (@EatSleepRedskin) January 6, 2020
By the end of his #Packers tenure, Mike McCarthy grew frustrated with the inactivity of GM Ted Thompson. He felt he didn’t have enough players. This week, two GMs have said the #Cowboys have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL. McCarthy has players now.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 6, 2020
I’ve given McCarthy a lot of shit, but at least he’s better than Garrett. I hope that year off helped to modernize his playbook. https://t.co/9CYeg4G7da

Now, this scenario didn’t include Hess being gone. Maybe that’s enough. But would still think TW will want some guaranteed $$? but perhaps a stronger desire on his part to make sure something happens. Stay tuned. Would remove a glaring need of course if he does return.
— John Keim (@john_keim) January 6, 2020
Really want to know if Del Rio is going to want to run man in the back end as he always has almost exclusively, or if the defense will be zone-based as Rivera has been almost exclusively. The two mesh in the front seven very well. #Redskins https://t.co/auForJWdyj
— Kennedy Paynter (@Kennedy_Paynter) January 6, 2020
He’s certainly not ready to start yet. Would need a HUGE offseason to be ready. Down the line, who knows. But he’s not the answer to Trent leaving https://t.co/yYtF1YVQWI
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) January 6, 2020
Need to get a TE in both FA and the draft. Essential additions. Dunno if you go big money in FA, not sure there’s that kinda guy out there https://t.co/ccLLNwyvtG

Collins set in stone at SS, after that it’s all up in the air. Think they could sign guys for both spots. Tre Boston seems like an obvious fit at FS https://t.co/juOfprXh6d

Tell me again how more sacks will change our destiny?
Lorenzo Alexander played FB, TE, OL, DT and DE early in his career trying to find a home in the NFL. He became an elite special teams player and a standout OLB for Buffalo late in his career.

From @gmfb: A look at how the refs handled two controversial plays -- the hit on #Eagles QB Carson Wentz and the non-PI call in #Vikings-#Saints. pic.twitter.com/bXdZnRL04Z
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 6, 2020
In four years, Carson Wentz is 1 of 4 for 3 yards in the playoffs. That's it. And I'm a fan of his potential, but durability issue is a concern and has been since college.
— Lance Zierlein (@LanceZierlein) January 6, 2020
Friends, Carson Wentz is out of this game because Jadeveon Clowney speared him to the back of the head with his helmet, not because the guy is injury prone. Big difference.

The last 3 teams to lose their starting QB to injury *in a playoff game* all lost -- 2019 Eagles (Wentz), 2010 Bears (Cutler), 2005 Bengals (Palmer).
— Football Perspective (@fbgchase) January 6, 2020
The last team to win a postseason game after their starting QB got hurt? The 2001 Patriots, when Drew Bledsoe replaced Tom Brady.
D.K. Metcalf had 160 receiving yards yesterday, the most by a rookie in playoff history https://t.co/Xu7R5T6zmX
— ProFootballReference (@pfref) January 6, 2020
#Saints LB Kiko Alonso suffered a torn ACL in yesterday’s loss to the #Vikings, sources tell me and @RapSheet. That’s three ACL injuries for Alonso, who knows the process well. Should be ready to start next season.
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) January 6, 2020
#Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, who was unhappy with his contract and has only one year left said when asked about next season, “I won’t be back under the same deal.”

Nelson Agholor has to go see a knee specialist in Pittsburgh because of how complicated and rare his knee injury is. Compared it to something people get when they are in a car accident #Eagles
— Eliot Shorr-Parks (@EliotShorrParks) January 6, 2020
I have been informed by the Rams that my contract will not be renewed.
— Wade Phillips (@sonofbum) January 6, 2020
I want to thank them for the opportunity to be a part of their success the last 3years. Most of all I want to thank the players who I loved workings with. I still want to coach and feel I can contribute.
Joe Barry over Wade Phillips? Where have I heard that before? https://t.co/4MEvxy8x1k
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) January 6, 2020
Jay Gruden hired Joe Barry over Wade Phillips and it may have killed his career. So now prodigy Coach of the Year Sean McVay—who was ON THAT TEAM—is considering replacing Phillips with Barry? What is this, Vanilla Sky?

Pat Shurmur hoping to get an offensive coordinator job https://t.co/m08fBM4L9j
— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) January 6, 2020
Choosing Mike McCarthy is a lot like getting Taco Bell late at night. You're kind of desperate and there's not a lot of great options. It's reliable, yet unspectacular. And you're biggest hope is that you don't get violently ill.
— Adam Rank (@adamrank) January 6, 2020
REPORT: Sources telling us that Mike McCarthy was quick to jump on the Cowboys job because he was given strong indications that Josh McDaniels was inevitably going to be offered the Browns HC Job.
— CSPN (@CSPNetwork) January 6, 2020
Expect McDaniels to be offered the job in the coming days.
The #Cowboys new defensive coordinator is going to be Mike Nolan, which also leaves the #Saints with a key spot to fill on their D, too. https://t.co/EbSqDLQQYm
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 6, 2020
I like Kris Richard and Kellen Moore but don't see the sense in bringing in a veteran coach like Mike McCarthy but retaining two high-profile assistants from the last regime.

None of the teams in the final 8 used a top-8 pick on their starting QB.
2 acquired via trade (2nd round pick; late round pick)
1 drafted in 3rd round
1 large FA contract
4 first round pick outside of top 8
I've seen a photo making the rounds appearing to show #Skol WR @stefondiggs mocking #Saints HC @SeanPayton post game by doing the 'bike like dance.'@wdsu's @am7photography video shows the truth.

For what it's worth, the average time to throw for quarterbacks facing the Packers defense has been 2.76 seconds this season.
— Brett Kollmann (@BrettKollmann) January 6, 2020
If that average were it's own quarterback, it would have been the 15th longest time to throw in the league.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is...ehhhh https://t.co/TlVwJLtbQo
#Eagles G Brandon Brooks said he’ll have surgery on his shoulder Thursday. Said he expects to be back by the end of OTAs (which would be in early June).

This was really a no-brainer decision for him. He still has plenty to prove and a stand-out week in Mobile can help convince a team he's worth a day 2 draft pick.
Tua has a big decision to make today. I think he has 3 options.
— Daniel Jeremiah (@MoveTheSticks) January 6, 2020
1) Enter the draft
2) go back and play
3) go back and rehab/train
