Carson Wentz ruled out for remainder of NFC wild card game

The Philadelphia Eagles will have to launch a second-half comeback in the NFC Wild Card game without the help of their starting quarterback. The Eagles confirmed at the start of the second half that Carson Wentz will not return to Sunday’s game against Seattle after falling victim to a helmet-to-helmet hit by Jadeveon Clowney. Wentz was taken into the locker room for concussion testing, and when his wife was summoned back to see him late in the first half, it looked like a clear sign that the quarterback would not return. Concussions are serious issues, and it’s pretty clear that Wentz is dealing with one. The Eagles trailed 10-3 at halftime. Josh McCown will quarterback Philadelphia for the remainder of the second half. If Wentz’s concussion is severe enough, McCown could also be in line to start next week in Green Bay, though the Eagles would have to get there first.
