The coaching exodus continues......
The coaching changes continue to come quickly as the Los Angeles Rams try to figure out what went wrong in 2019.
The #Cowboys are expected to hire John “Bones” Fassel as their special teams coordinator, sources tell me and @RapSheet. One of the NFL’s best. Fassel’s contract was up with the #Rams, whom he helped to the Super Bowl last season. Mike McCarthy building a superstaff in Dallas.

While most can agree that special teams units fell from ‘elite’ status in the 2017 and 2018 NFL seasons to mediocre in 2019, this move is a bit more of a shock to Rams fans than losing Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips or Running Backs Coach Skip Peete.
Maybe it’s because coach Bones was the light during the dark years under Jeff Fisher. Maybe it’s because we all grew to love Johnny Hekker and Greg Zuerlein’s performances under his tutelage. Maybe it’s because he was the interim head coach after Fisher was dismissed in 2016. Maybe it’s because he gave Cory Littleton a shot to be a special teams stud.
But this one hurts.
Best of luck to Bones in Dallas. Maybe he can finally spark something in Tavon Austin as a returner with the Cowboys.
Thanks for the memories Bones. You gave us something to cheer for in the tough years and your units always did their part to both inspire fans and help the Rams to victory.
