Jason Garrett hired by Giants as offensive coordinator

All those rumors and reports about Jason Garrett’s interest in the New York Giants appear to have been true. Garrett has been hired as the Giants’ new offensive coordinator, ESPN’s Ed Werder reported on Friday. Garrett, 53, was the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys for 10 seasons (including his interim stint) from 2010 to 2019 — the entire decade. He went 85-67 in that span, making the playoffs three times. Garrett was fired after an 8-8 season in 2019. His firing took much longer than expected because he reportedly was lobbying for his job. The Cowboys hired Mike McCarthy in his place and finally fired Garrett, freeing him up to look elsewhere. There were reports about the Giants’ interest in Garrett, which seem to have been accurate. Garrett’s hiring is a nice addition for first-year head coach Joe Judge.
