Patriots vs Titans inactives: Jason McCourty OUT again; Terrence Brooks returns

Let’s find out who will miss today’s game.

In not even 90 minutes, the New England Patriots will enter the playoffs, trying to advance to the divisional round: the reigning world champions will square off against a Tennessee Titans team that finished the regular season with a 9-7 record and as the sixth seed in the AFC. Before getting ahead of ourselves, however, let’s take a look at the players on both sides who have been declared inactive and will therefore not participate in today’s contest:

Patriots inactives

CB Jason McCourty

QB Cody Kessler

RB Damien Harris

TE Ryan Izzo

OL Jermaine Eluemunor

OT Korey Cunningham

DT Byron Cowart

The Patriots entered the weekend with six players listed as questionable on their injury report — but only one of them will miss tonight’s game: cornerback Jason McCourty, who was limited in practice all week due to a groin injury that first popped up in mid-November, will be out once again. The absence will be McCourty’s fifth over the last seven games, and once again put J.C. Jackson into the starting perimeter role opposite Stephon Gilmore.

The other inactives, on the other hand, are all little more than depth players at this point in time.

Meanwhile, the Patriots’ other five questionables are all healthy enough to play tonight. Wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee/shoulder), linebackers Jamie Collins (shoulder) and Ja’Whaun Bentley (knee), and defensive backs Jonathan Jones (groin) and Terrence Brooks (groin) are all ready to participate. Brooks returns after missing the regular season finale.

Titans inactives

WR Adam Humphries

WR Kalif Raymond

WR Cody Hollister

OL Kevin Pamphile

DL Isaiah Mack

LB Reggie Gilbert

DL Joey Ivie

Adam Humphries is the biggest name on the Titans’ list of inactives, but he was already ruled out on Thursday due to an ankle injury.
