Philadelphia Eagles fans would probably disagree with this sentiment, but Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll doesn’t think Jadeveon Clowney did anything wrong on his helmet-to-helmet hit on Carson Wentz Sunday. Speaking with local media on Monday, Carroll called it an “unfortunate” accident. “He hit him in the back of the head. He wasn’t trying to hurt him or anything, that just happened,” Carroll said, per Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. “It’s football and unfortunate that he got banged. Hate that he didn’t get to play the game. But I don’t know why there is so much discussion about it. He’s a guy chasing him and he dove on the guy and hit him and it’s unfortunate.” The hard sell here is that Wentz had already been downed when Clowney lowered his helmet and speared Wentz in the helmet. That’s when his head bounced hard off the turf and he suffered a concussion. The refs calling the game seem to agree with Carroll’s assessment, having viewed the hit as “incidental” and not intentional. What we know
