Raiders CB Nevin Lawson suspended one game for using helmet as weapon

The Raiders will already be missing one of their players when they kick off the 2020 season in Las Vegas. Cornerback Nevin Lawson was suspended a game by the NFL for using his helmet as a weapon in the Raiders' Week 17 loss to the Denver Broncos, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Friday. No footage or photos of the incident have gone public. Lawson was ejected at the end of the game for getting into a skirmish after a failed onside kick attempt, according to CSN Bay Area. TV cameras did not show what led to the skirmish, but the helmet as a weapon rule was cited by Jon Runyan regarding the discipline. Lawson would be eligible to play in Week 2 next season. Lawson was suspended the first four games of the 2019 season due to a PED violation. The 28-year-old cornerback had 24 tackles and five passes defended in 11 games this season.
