The Vikings’ secondary will be short-handed again

The final injury report is out for the Minnesota Vikings as they get ready for the NFC Divisional Playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers, and there are a couple of significant developments that have come up, including the purple potentially being short-handed in the secondary again.

Here is the final report from the team’s website:

Out

Doubtful

Questionable

Not Given Designation

I thought I had seen earlier reports saying that Diggs was questionable, but he was a full participant in practice on Thursday after missing two days with an illness and the team’s website does not have an injury designation for him. So, I’m going to go with that.

Thielen’s ankle injury from Wednesday came as a result of someone stepping on his ankle during practice, requiring stitches. He sat out of practice on Thursday, but has said that he’s going to do everything possible to be out there on Saturday. If I were a betting man, I’d wager on him being out there.

The Vikings are going to be down a couple of players in the secondary again, though, as Mackensie Alexander will be out and Jayron Kearse is doubtful to play. Alexander was set to have surgery on his meniscus, but the team has not yet placed him on injured reserve. Kearse has been listed on injury reports with some sort of foot issue, whether listed as a foot or toe injury, going back to Week 15, but to my knowledge has not missed any time. It looks like they’ll both be out on Saturday, though.

That’s the final injury report for your Minnesota Vikings, folks. We’ll have more on this story as we get closer to kickoff in Santa Clara.
