2020 Minnesota Vikings Mock Draft Database, v1.0

Florida v Missouri

Still heavy on defensive backs, and some new names this week

I can assure you that I did not forget about this week’s installment of your Minnesota Vikings Mock Draft Database. . .I just had to take a break from doing schoolwork long enough to sit down and actually compile it. I’m hoping to get next week’s version out much earlier in the day than the first two installments have come out, but for now it’s better late than never, right?

For this week’s Database, we are up to 40 different mocks from across the internet, and more than half of them have either been added or updated since last week’s first version of this year’s Database. We’re not getting the full effects of the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine yet, obviously, but next week’s Database should reflect more of this week’s happenings in Indianapolis.

With that, here are the 40 mocks that make up this week’s version of the Mock Draft Database.

We are now up to 21 players that have been mocked to the Minnesota Vikings with the 25th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Only 20 of them appear in this week’s Database, however, as we’ve already had our first player drop out from last week’s Database. It probably won’t surprise many people to find out who it is, and we’ll get there eventually.

Once again, one position is responsible for more than half of the selections in these mocks, but we have a new name at the top of the leaderboard. With that, let’s get to it!

Defensive Backs - 22/40 selections (55%, up from 53.3% last week)

  • C.J. Henderson, Florida - 5 selections (12.5%, up from 6.7%)
  • Trevon Diggs, Alabama - 3 selections (7.5%, down from 16.7%)
  • Jeff Gladney, Texas Christian - 3 selections (7.5%, up from 6.7%)
  • Jaylon Johnson, Utah - 2 selections (5%, down from 6.7%)
  • Kristian Fulton, Louisiana State - 2 selections (5%, down from 6.7%)
  • Bryce Hall, Virginia - 2 selections (5%, up from 3.3%)
  • Cameron Dantzler, Mississippi State - 2 selections (5%, NEW this week)
  • Grant Delpit, Louisiana State - 1 selection (2.5%, down from 3.3%)
  • Antoine Winfield Jr., Minnesota - 1 selection (2.5%, down from 3.3%)
  • Xavier McKinney, Alabama - 1 selection (2.5%, NEW this week)

We are now up to ten different defensive backs being mocked to the Vikings with the additions of Dantzler and McKinney. A lot of love for the Southeastern Conference, too, as six of the ten DBs listed are from SEC schools. Of the 22 picks going to defensive backs, 19 of them point to the cornerback position (or 20, depending on how you view Winfield), and given the current state of the Vikings’ depth chart at the corner position, that makes sense.

Offensive Line - 10 selections (25%, up from 13.3% last week)

The offensive line has overtaken the defensive line for the second spot on the podium this week, and Austin Jackson leads the way. The tackles really lit it up in Indianapolis when they got the opportunity, and that could be a position that flies off the board in the early part of the first round. We now have a guard in the mix, too, as Biadasz makes his debut this week.

Defensive Line - 7 selections (17.5%, down from 26.7% last week)

As far as the number of selections, all of the defensive linemen in our Database this week held firm from last week, with the exception of Blacklock who lost one supporter. Their percentages all went down, however, just because we have more mocks this week than we did last week.

Wide Receiver - 1 selection (2.5%, down from 3.3% last week)

  • Jalen Reagor, Texas Christian - 1 selection (2.5%, down from 3.3%)

No change here from last week, as Reagor is the only skill position that charts in our Database this week. Here’s hoping that means the trade rumors that have been around the Vikings for the last few weeks start to dissipate a bit.

That brings us to our 40 selections for this week. This week’s Database no longer has the Vikings drafting a quarterback at #25, as DraftTek moved Minnesota off of Oregon signal caller Justin Herbert and over to Austin Jackson.

Here is your graphical representation of this week’s Database, which you can feel free to click upon in order to embiggen it.

That’s your Mock Draft Database for this week, folks. We’ll get the trends graph fired up next week and expand our Database to 50 total mocks.
