Redskins officially released the following players today:
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) February 14, 2020
DB Kenny Ladler
CB Josh Norman
DE Chris Odom
WR Paul Richardson Jr.
From @NFLTotalAccess: The #Redskins moved on from CB Josh Norman today, clearing significant money and giving him a small headstart on finding a new team. pic.twitter.com/snxyJJjT7q
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 15, 2020
Josh Norman was better in Washington than his reputation wound up being, but that doesn’t mean the signing was ultimately a good move.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) February 14, 2020
Norman was paid as a monster playmaker and he didn’t make enough plays. Never generated the turnovers to justify the payday.
For comparison's sake, both Bashaud Breeland and Josh Norman played 4 years with the #Redskins.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) February 14, 2020
Breeland: 270 tckls, 60 PBU's, 8 INT, 1 TD, made $4.5M.
Norman: 235 tckls, 43 PBU's, 7 INT, 0 TD, made $61.2M
Touched base with Josh. Just one quick message exchange, but he's excited to move forward.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) February 14, 2020
Had a lot of discussions last year with him. He was always dedicated to the craft, but he knew this was likely coming. He's no dummy.
Josh Norman’s final gift to us as #Redskins fans. #ChaseYoung pic.twitter.com/TKFK0wEj4q
— Al Galdi (@AlGaldi) February 14, 2020
One thing #Redskins fans should note with the Norman release. A chunk of that $12.5M in savings this year is likely earmarked to Dunbar in an extension. Dunbar is about to get top tier $ and will see his 2020 Cap hit rise as a result.

can confirm Paul Richardson is being released.
— John Keim (@john_keim) February 14, 2020
Paul Richardson's a great dude. He was not a smart signing.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) February 14, 2020
He was never able to stay healthy in Seattle. Jay Gruden LOVED him coming out of school. They signed him to a contract of a player you love, not someone who was a massive risk to provide A-level production.
Paul Richardson’s Redskins tenure: 17 games, 48 catches and 507 yards. Four touchdowns https://t.co/0q9FBE3ymF
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) February 14, 2020
Another one is Ryan Kerrigan. If no FO changes, would stick around with an extension. People who know Snyder well predicted this: Will Extend him, but lower cap hit. If draft Young, would be in Chris Long type role... Kerrigan wants to stick around.
— John Keim (@john_keim) February 14, 2020
2020 #NFLDraft not great at TE, which is a historically slow-developing position anyway. Filling this need in FA is the right move for the #Redskins who need not one but two TEs. https://t.co/AXpmvo7TII
— Kennedy Paynter (@Kennedy_Paynter) February 14, 2020
Honestly, I would be angry if Peterson is cut. https://t.co/Ga9HxxwHey
— (@boozeandmascara) February 14, 2020
Sources: The #Ravens are releasing S Tony Jefferson, a starter for the last three seasons. He had a cap hit of almost $12M, and this saves the majority of it.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 14, 2020
Some transactions: The #Texans released CB Vernon Hargreaves, the former first rounder, and the #49ers have cut DT Ethan Westbrook.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 14, 2020
Teams that anticipate gaining compensatory picks for 2021 may have a heightened interest in the players that were cut today, as well as those that will be cut in the near future.

*Every single* vet RB on a pre-2019 deal of over $4.0 M per year averaged less than 4.0 YPC in 2019 & their team has regrets:
— Warren Sharp (@SharpFootball) February 12, 2020
•Todd Gurley
•David Johnson
•Devonta Freeman
•Jerick McKinnon
•Lamar Miller
•Dion Lewis

I had a routine medical procedure today. Asked my wife if the DR visited with us in recovery room. She said yes. I said I don’t remember any of it. What did I say? She said I told him where Tua was getting picked.

What’s the doctor’s name? #research https://t.co/DwpBKAWLMe
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 14, 2020
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Redskins let it be known through back channels that they’re not sold on Haskins and drafting Tua at #2 is a serious consideration. Imagine the bounty of picks they could collect for trading down a couple spots.

#49ers LB Kwon Alexander wasn’t just playing in the Super Bowl with a surgically repaired pec. Sources say he was also dealing with a biceps injury that is being surgically repaired today. He’ll have a full recovery for 2020, but amazing to think what he played through this year.

RE: The NFLPA's meeting on Thursday in DC ... It's the third in a series of exec comm/player rep meetings they've had on the CBA (1st was on 1/30 at Super Bowl; 2nd was on 2/6 in LA). They might vote, though I'm told that would require running the table on the issues left. (cont)

With the addition of a 17th game part of the NFL's proposals, the union has been focused on reducing the overall load and exposure on players in other areas in the offseason, camp and in-season.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) February 14, 2020
And the work rules remain where the most work needs to be done. (cont)
The last face-to-face NFL/NFLPA meeting was before the Super Bowl. There isn't one scheduled now. But the dialogue has been constant. The PA has its rep meeting from March 7-10 in Miami. They'll elect a new president there.

Getting a deal done by then = a nice goal for everyone.
FWIW, article confirms: "Snyder and Smith met twice in the Bahamas, but no offer was made." https://t.co/mfhvlWsvN9

Ovechkin has gone three games without a point for the first time since Dec. 11-16.
— Tom Gulitti (@TomGulittiNHL) February 14, 2020
After he scored Goal No. 598 in the outdoor game at the Naval Academy in 2018, he went three games in a row without a point before scoring goals 599 and 600 vs. Winnipeg on March 4, 2018.
Ovechkin has seven shots on goal, 14 attempts.

He's done everything but score.
@ArmellaJulian is only 15 years old and will continue to be one of the best offensive linemen in the country. He also had other reps where he dominated. pic.twitter.com/6HfYKTGjtG
