According to a report from ESPN, the Jaguars are hiring former Giants HC Ben McAdoo as the team’s quarterback coach
The Jaguars may have two former NFC East head coaches on their coaching staff in 2020. According to a report from ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, former New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo is slated to become the team’s quarterbacks coach.
This news comes just a few weeks after the Jaguars hired former Washington head coach Jay Gruden as the team’s offensive coordinator.
Ben McAdoo is being hired as the Jaguars quarterbacks coach, per source. The former Giants coach is back in after two years out of the NFL. McAdoo has worked well with Aaron Rodgers and Eli Manning in his previous stints.

McAdoo reportedly interviewed for the Jaguars offensive coordinator position shortly before the job was given to Gruden. If made official, the two will coach together in the fall.
The former Giants head coach has been out of the league for the past two years after being fired by the Giants in 2017. Prior to becoming the head coach of the Giants, McAdoo was the team’s offensive coordinator for two seasons in 2014 and 2015.
Besides Eli Manning during his time with the Giants, McAdoo also has experience with coaching Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers as his quarterbacks coach in 2012-2013.
Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone suggested shortly after Gruden was hired that the team may not hire a quarterback coach, but if it did they would do so with the idea of not putting too much pressure on one coach. The delegation of responsibilities will be handled effectively as McAdoo focuses only on the quarterbacks, including Gardner Minshew II, while Gruden handles the big picture and play-calling duties.
If hired, the two highly experienced offensive coaches on the coaching staff as the team looks to be less inconsistent and more efficient in game-planning and teaching.
