Henry Ruggs III clocks unofficial 4.28 40 time at NFL combine

Henry Ruggs III entered the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis Thursday amid hype that he could break the record for the fastest 40-yard-dash time among wide receivers. He didn’t quite live up to the billing. Ruggs ran an unofficial 4.28 40 on his first attempt and a 4.31 40 on his second run. That placed him tied for fifth among wide receivers since 2003 and tied for seventh among all players all time. Ruggs also posted impressive stats in the vertical and broad jump. Ruggs decided to come out for the draft after his junior season at Alabama. The former Crimson Tide wide receiver had 98 catches for 1,716 yards and 24 touchdowns during his college career. Between Ruggs, Jerry Jeudy and Devonta Smith, Alabama had a pretty incredible trio of receivers. Jeudy joined Ruggs in the draft, while Smith decided to return for his senior season.
