Minnesota Vikings News and Links: February 18, 2020

Vikings vs Tampa — Minneapolis Mn, 9/6/99 file photo of Tampa Vs Minnesota---Tampa Bay defensive lineman Warren Sapp tries get pass Vikings Corey Stringer to tackle Robert Smith during last years game at the metro dome.

Some he said/he said?

Happy Monday Tuesday, everyone!

Wow, did you hear about the Myles Garrett interview? Garrett stated that Rudolph had used an ugly racial slur, which prompted Garrett to attack Rudolph by converting Rudolph’s helmet into an improvised WMD (trademark, the comments section of the open thread). According to Rudolph, Tomlin, and most everyone involved, Rudolph did not, and would not, use the slur in question, and Tomlin is upset with ESPN for their handling of the interview. I’ll be interested to see where this goes. If Jarrett’s accusation is false, then he should be held accountable.

It’s chilly here on Hoth, but only 5 more days until I get to Phoenix. The waiting is the hardest part, per Tom Petty, and he’s right.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Ted continues his “Should I stay or should I go” series, as he takes a look at Xavier Rhodes.

Other Vikings/NFL news, and random oddities and annoyances:

From FoxSports, the Browns have released veteran CB, TJ Carrie, along with 3 others. Also from FoxSports, Mason Rudolph’s agent claims that Myles Garrett opened himself up to liability because of statements he made in a recent interview with ESPN. Garrett once again stated that Rudolph had used a racial slur, which is why he attempted to cave Rudolph’s skull in with his own helmet, a.k.a. a WMD. Rudolph vehemently denies the allegation, and since Garrett made the statement in California, he may be liable for defamation.

Mike Tomlin called out ESPN for their handling of the Myles Garrett interview, per the Sporting News.

We come to today’s media selection:

Here’s one from the late, great Levon Helm; this is Tennessee Jed. Enjoy!

We all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the liver and onions.
