Kevin Faulk had served as LSU football’s director of player development since 2018.

Kevin Faulk will be back in the LSU backfield in 2020.

The Tigers are hiring Faulk as the program’s next running backs coach, Bruce Feldman of The Athletic reported Monday evening.

Faulk, 43, had held the title of director of player development at his alma mater since January of 2018.

The former SEC Freshman of the Year, three-time first-team All-SEC selection and first-team All-American amassed 4,557 rushing yards, 600 receiving yards and 50 touchdowns from scrimmage during his tenure in Baton Rouge. He now replaces Tommie Robinson, who is joining the Texas A&M staff after also serving as recruiting coordinator and assistant head coach for the reigning national champions, sources told TexAgs.com’s Billy Liucci.

Faulk, the No. 46 overall pick in 1999 NFL draft, won a trio of Super Bowls over the course of his 13 seasons with the New England Patriots. He retired as New England’s all-time leader in all-purpose yards and kick-return yards, and having ranked fifth in franchise history in both rushing yards and receptions.

A member of the New England’s 50th anniversary team, Faulk was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2016.
