No reunion
Ron Rivera is not getting his man this time. The new Washington Redskins head coach was working to reunite with former Panthers TE Greg Olsen. The Redskins, Bills, and Seahawks were reportedly negotiating with him this week.
The Seahawks have won the Greg Olsen Sweepstakes. He is signing a 1 year deal, $7 million deal that has $5.5 million guaranteed. That sounds high for a TE who turns 35 next month. The Redskins lost TE Vernon Davis to retirement earlier this month. They will reportedly be parting ways with their other starting TE Jordan Reed soon. Both had their seasons cut short by concussions
With Olsen passing on them, Rivera and the Redskins will have to address the TE position over the next two months. Washington currently has Jeremy Sprinkle, Hale Hentges, and Caleb Wilson under contract. The NFL Scouting Combine starts Sunday, free agency starts on March 18th, and the NFL draft begins April 25th. It's time for Kyle Smith, Alex Santos, and the scouts to earn their paychecks.
Former Panthers’ TE Greg Olsen is signing a one-year, $7 million deal that includes $5.5M gtd with the Seahawks, per source. Olsen visited and negotiated with Buffalo, Seattle and Washington but felt most comfortable with the Seahawks.
