The results of yesterday’s poll show that a majority of the wildly intelligent open thread crowd wish to keep Linval Joseph right here in Minnesota, and I agree.
- 3% wish to keep him with his contract as it is
- 61% want to keep him, but restructure his contract
- 16% want the team to trade Linval
- 19% think the team should release him
- 1% do not know who Linval Joseph is
Today we’ll look at our CB1, and 2019 Pro-Bowl selection*, Xavier Rhodes. Rhodes was drafted by the Vikings in round one of the 2013 NFL draft, and has been with the team ever since then. Prior to this year, Rhodes was considered to be one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, but that status has slipped a bit in many folks’ minds after a less-than-stellar 2019, even with his selection to the Pro Bowl*.
Rhodes is currently under contract through 2022, he has a $12.9 million cap hit and carries a dead cap hit of $4.8 million in 2020, per spotrac. In 2021, those numbers will be $14.15 million/$2.4 million. Feel free to vote below.
