Bill Zimmerman was a guest on The Under Center Podcast from NBC Sports and you can check that out right here.
In 2018 the Chicago Bears were 12-4, they were the NFC North Champs, they had a young, emerging quarterback leading an up and coming offense with solid o-line play, and an NFL Coach of the Year calling plays. The defense had All-Pro talent at every level, they got after the opposing QB while taking the ball away, and they struck fear in the opposition.
In 2019 the Bears limped to an 8-8 record that didn’t even feel that good, while struggling for every bit of success they found, with a sputtering offense led by a confused quarterback playing behind an equally as confused offensive line, while the play caller and head coach stuck to his stubborn guns to often. Defensively, they played neutered football while trying to keep things close enough to give the team a chance to win, but that sapped their aggressiveness and the sacks and turnovers suffered.
In the 2020 offseason the Bears will no doubt makes some changes, but will those changes reveal them to be closer to what we saw in 2018 or just be more of the same of 2019?
In Laurence Holmes’ recent Under The Center Podcast from NBC Sports Chicago, he’s joined by our very own Bill Zimmerman to discuss just that.
The guys talked Bears from Miami when both were covering the Super Bowl, so give it a listen and let us know your thoughts, and be sure to subscribe to Laurence’s show above.
